Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for information.
A senior representative stated the vandalism made him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
